artist residencies
Starcatchers will provide opportunities for artists to work in four different venues from the east to west coast of Scotland. Each residency will be working with local nurseries and childcare centres, allowing artists to play with children aged 4 and under, and develop ideas that will feed into their processes of creating brand new performances.
The Starcatchers Residencies are taking place in:
- Tramway, Glasgow
- Platform, Easterhouse
- Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, Fife
- Byre Theatre, St Andrews, Fife
It’s an exciting creative challenge to devise and produce performances that are appropriate for a child’s age and stage; when it engages a child, the impact can be life-long. The most inspiring and powerfully connecting theatre is developed when an artist has the opportunity to spend plenty of time with young children. We discovered through our pilot project that the artist-in-residence model is the best way to make this happen.
The Artist Residencies will begin in Autumn 2009. Each residency will have a dedicated space on the site with blogs, photos and film from the development work taking place in each community.
