Creative Skills is Starcatchers’ unique artist-facilitated training programme. We give early years professionals – nursery, family centre and out-of-school care staff, teachers, childminders and play workers – the confidence and skills to put expressive arts at the heart of practice.
Starcatchers also offers bespoke training tailored to your setting. We offer in-service days, half-days, full-days or twilight formats, bespoke training programmes and practical workshops or break-out sessions. Find out more by downloading our Comissioned Training booklet.
Let us inspire you
Be challenged to explore your own creativity and learn how expressive arts such as music, drama, puppetry, visual art, storytelling, and creative movement can transform early years learning environments.
For 2020/21, we are offering a wide range of online resources you can use to improve your creative confidence and spark some inspiration.
Starcatchers’ Bespoke Training
Need inspiration, wonder and some new ideas? We work directly with organisations to deliver bespoke training – past clients have included NDNA, Aberdeen City Council, Dundee City Council, University of West of Scotland, SOSCN, Midlothian Association of Play and SCMA.
For more information about bespoke training, contact Catherine Wilson.
Starcatchers’ Wee Inspirations are fun and creative idea cards to engage little ones at home without a lot of kit, stress, nor pressure to ‘achieve’ anything.
Creative Skills Plus: Our SQA Level 7 Qualification
To further the learning from Creative Skills we run an SQA course, focussing on the theory around creativity in childhood, as well as examining how to practically integrate creative skills into your practice.
Due to current circumstances, we will not be running our SQA course as part of our 2020/21 programme, but hope to run it again in future when it is safe to do so.
